Barnes & Noble Martial arts flick phenom Chuck Norris pummeled his way into TV with this 1993 drama, starring as Cordell Walker, a stone-faced Texas Ranger who meted out justice with his fists. Along for the ride were Clarence Gilyard Jr. as Walkers partner, Ranger Jimmy Trivette, a college-educated ex-football star; Sheree J. Wilson as Assistant D.A. Alex Cahill (later to become Mrs. Walker); and Noble Willingham as ex-Ranger and pub owner C. D. Parker. By Season 8, C.D. had left the series, and erstwhile Party Machine personality Nia Peeples joined the cast as Ranger Sydney Cooke. This box set collects all 24 episodes of Season 9, when Walkers run came to a hard-fought close. Walkers "eye for an eye" approach to law enforcement is on display in such standout episodes as "The Winds of Change," wherein Walker is hired to dole out justice to a murderous computer hacker, and "Retribution," which finds Walker & Co. chasing down skilled assassins. Walker takes on ruthless drug dealers in "Division Street," an outing that features Hulk Hogan in a cameo as Boomer Night. Also of note this season is Cahills pregnancy, which figures in the two-part series finale, "The Final Show/Down"; just as Alex goes into labor, a vengeance-bent gang aims to off the Rangers, one by one. As for other guest stars, this season offers up a veritable Love Boat’s worth, including Ernest Borgnine, Ann Jillian, Michael Ironside, Dionne Warwick, and Bob Newhart Larry turned Deadwood mayor William Sanderson. Also getting some early TV exposure here (keep your eyes peeled) are Francis Capra from Veronica Mars, Losts Josh Holloway, and Angels Mercedes McNab.
