Barnes & Noble In 1983, the four-hour miniseries V captured audiences with its tale of a race of reptilian creatures from another planet that arrive on Earth, disguised as humans and claiming to come in peace. Of course, the visitors true motives become evident as they take control of the world and begin eating humans for sustenance. Soon, a band of resistance fighters takes on the invaders, sustaining the story line not only through the original four hours but also through a second, six-hour miniseries, V: The Final Battle. Not quite final enough, though, as NBC went to the V mill once again a year later, bringing it back as a series that ran 19 episodes, all collected here in V: The Complete TV Series box set. Set a year after The Final Battle, the weekly TV series -- which included the return of all the major actors -- picked up the story line of the "Red Dust" that could destroy the alien invaders. The dust has evolved, and now its only active in colder climates, which makes North America a battleground against the Visitors. Nathan Bates (Lane Smith), the industrialist who manufactures the dust, makes a deal with alien leader Diana (Jane Badler) to profit from Visitor technology. Rebel leaders Mike Donovan (Marc Singer), Ham Tyler (Michael Ironside), and Julie Parrish (Faye Grant) know that Diana cant be trusted, and continue in their underground efforts to prevent the takeover of the planet.
