 Barnes & Noble It’s summertime on the Island of Sodor, but the livin’ ain’t easy for the engines that work the railway lines. The diesels and “steamies” are too busy making trouble and coming up with “naughty ideas” to tend to the business at hand, which includes building new sheds for the engines and constructing the new airport that will bring more tourists to Sodor. In one story, a storm devastates Sodor, and a chastened Thomas enlists the help of kind diesel Mavis to get all the engines to work together to repair the damage. What makes this full-length home-video premiere really useful is its interactive story breaks: Viewers are asked to hook up Thomas and the other engines with the right equipment and cars needed to complete their tasks. This new spin on the usual storytelling structure should engage Thomas fans on a different level. New songs, such as “Try to Do Things Better” and “Together (We Made It Happen),” foster responsibility and teamwork, two watchwords on the Island of Sodor.
