Barnes & Noble The distinguished life of Teddy Roosevelt is almost impossibly fertile ground, even for the most ambitious historians. In this two-DVD set, the History Channel focuses on the arc of Roosevelts life, from his early days as a Dakota cowboy to his time in the White House. Meticulous attention is paid to virtually every aspect of the Rough Riders life: In addition to stints as the New York City police commissioner and assistant secretary of the navy, Roosevelt is the only president awarded the Medal of Honor and the first American to receive a Nobel Prize. Featuring readings of Roosevelts words by Richard Dreyfuss, An American Lion features interviews with President Bill Clinton, Governor George Pataki of New York, authors H. W. Brands and Edmund Morris, and a number of the 26th presidents descendants -- all of which vividly illuminate the life of this uniquely American figure. Bonus features include the 50-minute biography "Teddy Roosevelt: Rushmore to Rough Rider" and a Roosevelt family tree from Genealogy.com. TR is presented fairly. The archival footage and re-enactments are excellent. The last years at Sagamore Hill are especially poignant.I watch this dvd for more than just information and entertainment-it is inspirational. THC should be commended for its presentation of the icon known as Teddy Roosevelt. Interested in the song lyrics? - Check out themostlyrics.com! Looking For A DVD? - Check out dvd-a-rama.com! |
