Politically incorrect comedy is the order of the day when the Sanfords, one of TVs most endearingly cantankerous families, return for another season of junkyard mischief. Join Fred (Redd Foxx), Lamont (Demond Wilson), Aunt Esther (LaWanda Page), and an inimitable supporting cast as they trade countless barbs and insults in Norman Lears classic, stereotype-skewering series. In a minor bit of TV history, Redd Foxx does not appear in the seasons final six episodes, as he was in the midst of contract negotiations (he returns in Season 4). This three-disc set includes all 24 third-season episodes in their original broadcast order and offers a visit with Americas favorite (albeit only) TV family of junk sellers. The episodes of Lamont goes Libra and Momas Baby, Popas Maybe are hilarious and somewhat shocking for their day, even shocking by todays standards. This series brilliantly balances social commentary with intelligent, witty comedy. Despite, the show being know for Dummie Lamont and Ugly Aunt Ester jokes, Redd Foxx is a sophisticated comedian who is at his best when he turns racial stereotypes on their head.A reviewer, A reviewer, March 19, 2004 Sanford & Son season # 3Absolutly wonderful ! ! !
