Barnes & Noble Excavated from the 1980s time capsule, this feature film spin-off of the Hallmark TV-and-toy franchise will "make every morning a rainbow day." Rainbow Brite lives, naturally, in Rainbowland, where she monitors the seasons on Earth. That means, for example, convincing Stormy to give Winter a rest and allow Spring to commence. But something is amiss. The snow isnt melting. Worse, a supremely spoiled princess covets "the greatest diamond in the universe," which would mean the end of color. Closer to home, two hapless villains, Murky and Lurky, scheme to make things gloomy with their "Supergloom boomer." But with the help of the ancient sage Orin on the planet Spectra, Rainbow Brites rainbow-maned horse, Starlight, a comical sprite named Tink, a space boy and his rocket-powered robotic horse, and Brian, the only one on Earth who can see Rainbow, all will be beautiful once again. Its all a bit icky in a Care Bears sort of way, but children of the 80s will get a warm nostalgic glow, while a new generation will bask in the shimmering colors, enchanting characters, and pleasant songs.
