Barnes & Noble Although some Folk fans believe the groundbreaking series began losing steam in its third season, few would disagree that the shows fourth year represented a return to peak form. The 14 episodes that aired on cables Showtime network from April to July 2004 found each of the regular characters dealing with change. Brian (Gale Harold) attempts to reconstruct his life after working to prevent a Stockwell election and battling testicular cancer. Justin (Randy Harrison) has a rather dangerous flirtation with lifes wild side, but ultimately it matures him and strengthens his relationship with Brian. Lindsay (Thea Gill) begins exploring new facets of her sexuality, while Ted (Scott Lowell) finally comes to grips with the past and starts over. Michael (Hal Sparks) and Ben (Robert Gant) expand on their relationship, as Debbie struggles to cope with her brothers death and find new sources of happiness in her life. The season ends triumphantly with the birth of a second child to Melanie (Michelle Clunie) and Lindsay, a surprise engagement for Debbie, and a Hollywood job offer for Justin -- working on the film version of "Rage," the comic book he produces with Michael. The writing in Season 4 reaches a new high-water mark and sets the bar very high for Season 5.
