In an era of decreased expectations, fans of adventurous music can still turn to Queensrÿche. The Seattle quintet long stood as the one rock band on the planet not afraid to be important, with the chops and vision to pull off all of their ambition. Seldom does a band release an album that achieves serious artistic success while also bringing their music to the masses, but 1988s Operation: Mindcrime was just such a confluence for Queensrÿche. A high-water mark in their career, the concept album matched a complex storyline brimming with romance and political intrigue to instrumentation of tightly-wound metallic power and orchestral depth. This re-release of Operation: Mindcrime features Queensrÿche in their peak 1991 lineup performing the songs from their masterwork in order. The band presents this concert as a full theatrical spectacle, with early gems "The Lady Wore Black" and "The Road to Madness" appended to delight die-hards.
