British writer Oscar Wilde once said, "I have nothing to declare but my genius." This BBC box set features a virtual whos who of British stage and screen luminaries, including Sir John Gielgud, Joan Plowright, and Jeremy Brett, all of whom combine to breathe life into four of the literary giants finest works. The Importance of Being Earnest, Wildes most enduring stage work, is the tale of two young men in 19th-century England who bend the truth in order to inject some intrigue in their mundane lives. The Picture of Dorian Gray, in which a man commits murder and finds himself surprisingly unchanged as he ages, challenged the foundations of Victorian society. An Ideal Husband centers around witty, charming idler Lord Darlington in a saga overflowing with mischief and scandalous gossip. Lady Windermeres Fan is Wildes comedy of errors about a woman who suspects her husband of infidelity and finds the identity of his lover even more shocking than the affair itself. The titles in this box set are available on DVD only as a collection, but they are also available individually on VHS. Customer ReviewsWrite your own online review >
