Barnes & Noble Declaring itself "A super concert of the worlds best music," this ABC TV program featured chart-topping pop, rock, soul, country, and jazz artists in live weekly performances -- some real, some lip-synched -- and most in groovy pop art settings. Hosted by comedian David Steinberg, with support from Lily Tomlin, the variety of performers on the show was amazingly diverse and inclusive. Where else could you see teen heartthrob Bobby Sherman sharing the airwaves with Merle Haggard and Sly & the Family Stone? This DVD collects four original Music Scene episodes along with 21 bonus tracks, and delivers nearly four hours of jaw-dropping entertainment. Highlights include performances by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young ("Down by the River"), Janis Joplin ("Kozmic Blues"), James Brown ("World"), and Smokey Robinson & the Miracles divine "Here I Go Again." Fans of Three Dog Night ("Easy to Be Hard"), Steve Lawrence ("The Drifter"), and the Archies (who appear in cartoon form to croon "Sugar, Sugar") will also find much here to cherish as well. Mention the music scene of 1969-1970, and most folks will think: "Beatles and Stones," or maybe even "Velvet Underground and the Stooges." Well, Music Scene fills in the gaps; warts, Bobby Sherman and all. Patrick MaciasCustomer ReviewsWrite your own online review > Interested in the song lyrics? - Check out themostlyrics.com!
