 Barnes & Noble Trying to describe HBO’s cult fave Mr. Show to the uninitiated is a bit like trying to explain gravity -- it won’t hit home until you experience it yourself. The collaboration of stars/creators David Cross (Newsradio, The Drew Carey Show) and Bob Odenkirk (The Larry Sanders Show) is an immersion course in helter-skelter sketch comedy, running the gamut from gangsta rap wars and ventriloquists to KKK ads and Tofutti. Indebted to the antics of Monty Python’s Flying Circus, Cross and Odenkirk honed their comedic craft over four seasons at HBO, earning wheelbarrows full of critical acclaim for their work. This handsome two-disc set compiles the groundbreaking first two seasons of Mr. Show, complete with episode commentary and appropriately bizarre extra features such as the Fantastical News Report and "Fuzz: The Musical." All the sketchs in the first & second seasons are great; Ronnie Dobbs, Jeppers Creepers, Coupon: the Movie and many others. This collection is a veritable modern day Bible ( but without all the raping and murdering ).
