Barnes & Noble This British drama with plenty of Highland heart returned to the BBC for a second eight-episode series in January and February 2001, following the continuing trials and tribulations of the new Laird of Glenbogle, Archie MacDonald (Alastair Mackenzie). While he continues to get the ailing family estate back on track, the young laird faces financial and romantic struggles right from the start, as he and his London girlfriend-business partner, Justine (Anna Wilson-Jones), finally have it out for good. This makes Archie "available," and while both Katrina (Lorraine Pilkington) and Lexie (Dawn Steele) have their eye on him, his father, Hector (Richard Briers), sees this as an opportunity -- and brings a group of possible wives to the estate in Episode 4. The appearance of Lexie’s estranged mother makes the sixth episode an especially complex and satisfying outing. Perhaps the best is saved for last, though, as Archie’s claim to Glenbogle is legitimately contested by a wealthy American in the season finale, forcing him to invoke a Chieftain’s Challenge.
