Barnes & Noble Season 3 saw some big changes at televisions favorite Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. Harry Morgan secured the future role of Col. Sherman Potter with his Emmy-winning turn in "The General Flipped at Dawn," portraying the loopy Gen. Bratford Hamilton Steele. Wayne Rogers ("Trapper" John McIntyre) and McLean Stevenson (Lt. Col. Henry Blake) departed the show, and Mike Farrell (Capt. B. J. Hunnicut) was introduced. This reordering essentially laid the foundation for the remainder of the series, which ran from 1972 to 1983 and remains one of TVs most beloved sitcoms. Writer Larry Gelbart continued to deftly draw the characters of the 4077th, striking a delicate balance between irony and tragedy as the Korean War dragged on. Each of the seasons episodes has its moments, but three standouts are "O.R.," where the unit finds itself suddenly at sea with wounded soldiers; "Adams Ribs," which finds Hawkeye outraged over mess hall food and placing a call to Chicago for takeout; and "Abyssinia, Henry," the tearful adieu of the units lieutenant colonel. This three-disc set includes all 24 episodes of the third season, with the option to turn off the laugh track. Three decades after making its TV debut, M*A*S*H remains one of the small screens high-water marks -- a series that remains as humorous and poignant as ever. The writing is wonderful, the cast chemistry is great, and it is laugh out loud funny. Bringing together drama and laughs has never been done as successfully as this show did. If youre looking for a show that will make you think and laugh, please try mash. Especially in the crazy times in which we live, mashs anti-war message is still true today. Also Recommended: Season 1 and Season 2 of MASHA viewer (drives59@hotmail.com) Third Time Is The CharmThis ends the era of trying to win an EMMY and the beginning of the trying to win the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE era. The funniest seasons were behind going into the 4th, although I loved Harry Morgans and David Ogden Stiers characters. I believe if the writers had given Trapper more of a part in the show, like they did B.J., Wayne Rogers would have stuck around.A viewer 3 Seasons of Glorious Riot. The first 3 seasons were great and after the departure of Lt. Col Henry Blake, the show was missing the potency, but it did have some classic moments after that. Also Recommended: I truly enjoyed the Sniper, Adams Ribs and Abbysinia Henry.A viewer Absolute FantisticThis season is one my absolute favorites. I never seem to stop laughing.A viewer The 1st Three SeasonsWithout question, the first three seasons were MASHs best. Once Col. Potter and BJ Honeycutt appear, the series was not as funny or creative. Interested in the song lyrics? - Check out themostlyrics.com! Looking For A DVD? - Check out dvd-a-rama.com! |
