Barnes & Noble Supermodel Tyra Banks is a living doll and a surprisingly deft comedienne in this magical comedy originally broadcast on The Wonderful World of Disney. Charmer Lindsay Lohan -- who played the dual role of the plucky separated-at-birth twins in Disneys 1998 remake of The Parent Trap -- stars as Casey, a 13-year-old tomboy who has become a loner since the death of her mother. Guided by a mystical-spells website, she procures a Book of the Dead from the Occult section of the local antique bookstore and performs a ceremony to resurrect her mom. Instead, she unwittingly brings to life an unwanted birthday gift: an "Eve" doll. Banks is delightful as Eve, who is at once stereotypically vacuous ("Its fun to dress up. I look awesome!") and politically correct (she admonishes fur-wearers). Casey has four days to reverse the spell or it becomes permanent. Eve moves in with Casey and her distant, workaholic father (Jared Burns), but discovers that the real world is far different than her own perfect plastic world. Life-Size is an enchanting and surprisingly poignant fantasy for all ages and suggests that there will be bright lights after modeling for Ms. Banks.
