Okay, so maybe the B-Boys dont actually take you out for an evening like its a date or something, but the intimate concert they deliver to 200 select fans here is just as enjoyable. While the group broke wide open in the U.S. in 1999 with "I Want It That Way," their European following was already growing as early as 95. This appearance, filmed in Cologne, Germany, features Kevin, Howie, Brian, A.J., and Nick paring back their sound for a small venue yet still delivering in a big way. Backed by an almost all-acoustic band -- which doesnt preclude Brian "B-Rock" Littrell from picking up an electric guitar himself -- the group showcases impressive vocal range with smooth new arrangements of their early hits. "Quit Playin Games (With My Heart)," "Ill Never Break Your Heart," and "Lay Down Beside Me," all benefit from the added intimacy. So while stool sitting replaces choreographed dance numbers and quiet awe eclipses fan hysteria, its worth every minute. Michael Stabile
