Reaching for TV sci-fis final frontier, Andromeda both honors and rides in the wake of franchise Star Trek -- as evidenced by Gene Roddenberrys name above the title. The show follows the wandering Andromeda Ascendant, a colossal, hyper-advanced spaceship that is awakened, Rip Van Winkle-like, from a deep freeze only to discover that the Systems Commonwealth that commissioned it has long since gone belly-up. Once used for diplomatic and humanitarian missions, the ship (personified in hologram by Lexa Doig) and its strong-chinned captain, Dylan Hunt (Kevin Sorbo), now go where no one dares, throughout the universe, boldly attempting to rebuild the Commonwealth amid warring alien races. This collection of first-season episodes includes: "The Pearls That Were His Eyes" -- Beka Valentine (Lisa Ryder) receives a distress call from her beloved Uncle Sid (John de Lancie), but to her disdain realizes that he has become Sam Profit, a big business tycoon. "The Mathematics of Tears" -- Andromeda (Doig) encounters her damaged sister ship, the Pax Magellanic, that leads the crew of the Andromeda Ascendant on an eerie mission. "Music of a Distant Drum" -- A crash landing on a strange planet leaves Tyr (Keith Hamilton Cobb) with a complete loss of memory and a mystery crate to protect from not-so-brotherly Nietzcheans. "Harper 2.0" -- Harper (Gordon Michael Woolvett) finds himself overloaded with information when a dying Perseid (Mike Desabrais) transfers data into his brain.
