 Barnes & Noble Little mouselings with big imaginations will delight in this program of stories from the PBS series based on the beloved books by Katharine Holabird and illustrator Helen Craig. Aspiring ballerina Angelina does not display good "cents" when she finds a "Lucky Penny" and decides she does not have to practice for an upcoming audition. In "The Legend of Big Paw," plucky Angelina sets off in search of her grandfathers lost war medal and risks an encounter with the mythical giant black cat, Big Paw. Next, Angelina befriends a harvest mouse who is shunned by Angelinas classmates in "Angelina and Anya." Finally, in "The Gymnastics Championship," Angelina helps her friend Alice overcome her fear of the balance beam. Two live-action segments reinforce the significance of practice and perseverance, as well as the need to appreciate other cultures. Finty Williams provides the voice of Angelina, while her mother, Dame Judi Dench, voices Angelinas nurturing dancing teacher, Miss Lilly. This exquisite British animated series is a real charmer, deftly balancing its fanciful world with pitch-perfect stories about navigating adolescence one step at a time.
