Originally aired on CBS, 9/11: The Filmmakers Commemorative Edition vividly recounts the tragic events that occurred at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. Brothers Gedeon and Jules Naudet, French filmmakers who had been making a documentary on the firefighters of Engine 7, Ladder 1, ended up instead capturing on film one of the most horrific events in American history. After the first plane hit, Jules followed the firefighters as they raced toward ground zero, recording everything on camera as it occurred. Over the next several hours, Naudet continued rolling, even entering the North Tower as the scene became more and more chaotic. 9/11 contains an additional 20 minutes of never-before-seen footage as well as 50 minutes of exclusive interviews, and remains among the most emotionally visceral accounts of the terrorist attack on New York City. Johnny-john (aj14779@yahoo.com), A reviewer, May 5, 2005 A Must-Have For All AmericansI was able to watch this movie through another source and was quite amazed at what I saw. I watched all the film footage from the news, but if you really want to see things from a closer point of view that NYFD & NYPD saw, you must purchase this DVD. It lets you see first hand that damgers our fire departments & police officers handle in such a tragic event that happened that day in September. This DVD isnt for everyone, it shows extreme film footage never to be taken lightly because its the real deal.A reviewer, A reviewer, October 22, 2004 A Reviewer, A Survivor...I happen to be directly outside the North Tower on Vessey St. & West Broadway, opposite corner from 7 World Trade on this dreadful day. As I saw this film when it aired on CBS(NYC), as well as when I purchased the DVD, I couldnt hold back the tears running down my cheeks as all feelings of fear, confusion, desperation, uselessness came back in overwhelming fashion. Remembering all the faces of people in the streets as I rushed to leave lower Manhattan. Seeing hundreds of firemen, police officers, emergency workers rushing towards the towers... This is the real deal. A must have film to let all know what happened on 9/11 from the inside. An incredible film, by a pair of incredible brothers who risked all to capture the events unfold with desregard for their own safety.Heather, an American, September 16, 2004 Never forgetThis footage is so unreal. It makes you realize why we need to continue to fight terriosts all over the world-- when you see the tragedy first hand like this. This is not an explotation of the events in NYC on 9/11, but rather a slap of reality. People often dont want to watch things cause its too much, but if you ever want to have a 1% understanding of what really happened at ground zero that day- you need to see this documentary. It is a part of history. WE can never forget the events of that day-- and watching the footage makes it burned in your memory.Jason, an american.. something to own, and never get rid of...Im only 14, and I remember the tragic events as they unfolded three years ago to the day... I really remember this special though the most... its so heart felt and emotional, the first part of it is basically about this one amatuer guy w/ a video camera documenting the new york fire department, and this one new guy who became a part of it. Then, its all about what happened that unforgetable day. This is not an option of maybe getting this DVD, this is a MUST HAVE, because future generations wont know what really happened, and they will have this to look back on to see what we all saw. So, spare a few bucks to buy this amazing DVD.A reviewer, A reviewer, February 8, 2004 Almost Too RealImagine filming a documentary on a fire company, and looking up just in time to film the first plane crashing into the WTC a couple blocks away.Imagine actually venturing inside the WTC, with those same firemen. This isnt a collection of news footage from the street outside. This is Jules Naudet, risking his own life, to remain with the fire company, filming from inside the WTC as the events unfold. A very powerful and personal film.
