And while its first-season ratings never soared, 24 was embraced by critics and quickly developed a loyal fan base. The monumental struggle of counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) became titillating water-cooler fodder, as he sifted through a complex web of kidnapping, assassination, and conspiracy week after week. The controversial finale to the debut season (if you don’t know it, we’re not telling) still has fans abuzz with disbelief. This six-disc collection contains all 24 first-season episodes, including an alternate ending to the season finale, plus an introduction from Sutherland. I first heard about 24 at the office, decided to watch it and now I watch this show every time it is aired. I just caught a one hour episode from a previous season and it was super. I ordered Season 1 and my wife and I watched five episodes and immediately ordered Seasons 2 and 3.
